The weather is warmer, the grass is greener, the flowers are blooming – it’s Spring! There are a few items that I’m looking to add to my capsule wardrobe. Specifically, I’m searching for items that will transition well to summer and will work across all the outdoor activities I like to engage in.
Let me know if any of my picks are on your list as well!
1. Linen Pants
A linen pant is a great piece that can span from the warmer spring days into summer. Natural fibers like linen are breathable and allow you to move. This is an important aspect for me as I get antsy as the weather gets warmer. Outdoor events like farmers markets and restaurants also open this time of year, so they’re a great base to build around.
2. Tote bag
Having a larger bag, such as a tote, really comes in handy in the spring and summer months. I prefer one that has the appearance of straw, as it can easily be dressed up. I think with a classic cotton tote, it is more difficult to repurpose for different occasions. I managed to snag an item like this already and it has come in handy from collecting shells at the beach to carrying around pottery I bought at an art market.
3. Silk Scarf
I’ve been keeping my eye out for a silk scarf for some time now and just haven’t pulled the trigger. I think these can add more color and interest to an outfit by tying it around your bag strap or as a hair accessory. Personally, I’ve been really into the look of braiding a scarf into hair. Also, I am trying to stick to silk as it’s a natural fiber and is gentle on the hair.
4. Linen Tie Top
Simple clean lines and a light weight fabric are ideal for the later days in spring, leading into summer. I think these simple tops are easy to dress up, dress down, or event use as a beach coverup. I think the tie front gives a fun, sexy detail.
5. Black Sandal
I’ve been really into the look of a black strappy sandal. This is one of the items that I haven’t invested in for my wardrobe. Although I like the look of the minimal strappy sandal, such as the Steve Madden one below, I want something even more practical. I linked the Teva sandals as I think they have more versatility as they can be dressed down for the outdoors and offer additional support.
